On this day four years ago, (March 17, 2016), my dad, sister Stephanie, and I traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to watch Stony Brook University (13) take on the Kentucky Wildcats (4) in Wells Fargo Arena. It was the Seawolves’ first appearance in the NCAA Tournament and the fans showed up! Although the outcome of the game wasn’t what we hoped for (UK defeated SBU 85-57), I was happy just to be there to cheer on the team.
Between the last minute trip planning, exploring downtown Iowa during the NCAA Tournament and on St. Patrick’s Day, to being at the actual game, the whole March Madness experience was one I’ll never forget.
