HARRY & HERMIONE: DIY HALLOWEEN COSTUMES
YOUR LAST-MINUTE, DIY GUIDE TO A MAGICAL HALLOWEEN COSTUME
One more day until Halloween, which means time is running out to plan and execute an extravagant costume. My costume ideas usually stem from clothing items and accessories I already have, before I resort to shopping. I’ve found it to be a useful technique for when I fail to plan ahead and/or don’t want to overspend on a costume. Couple costumes can be a little more difficult to coordinate, but you’d be surprised how creative you can be!
Last year, Chris and I managed to pull off Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, in only a couple of days. AND, we won “Best Couple Costume” at our friend’s Halloween party. The stress of trying to find the perfect costume was relieved when we decided on something simple, while still conveying the characters we wanted to be. Sometimes less is more.
Here’s a guide on how we put together our casual Harry Potter and Hermione Granger costumes. Aside from Chris’s gray sweater, we already owned all of the clothing, so we just had to purchase the accessories.

Of course the sky is the limit on what can be done to enhance these costumes. If you have the time and budget, you could add cloaks, Gryffindor scarves, Hedwig for Harry, a textbook for Hermione, the list goes on…
Happy Halloween!
